Hi, I was driving my panelvan yesterday and noticed that the right blinker works all the time as it should, but the left blinker will only work if my foot is off the brake. As soon as the brake lights light up, the left indicator (blinker) stops. Its a '65 Morris 850 Panelvan with a generator and is negative earth. Any suggestions of what is wrong with it is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Almost certainly an earth problem. Check and clean the earths to the tail lights.
If problems perist then it may be better to add an extra earth to the light.
Having said that, is the correct stop/tail bulb fitted?

THanks Pink shifty! I'll have a look at that. It has been working trouble free for the last two years but I guess the car is 44 years old now..

Hi all I agree it is a bad earth some where and when you brake you create a false trip to earth. Time to go over all the points where the wires are bolted to the body . Unscrew them, sand , clean and reassmble them all. Re attacth , tighten and add smear with some grease or vasaline to keep the moisture out. EVEN if you look at them and check them and tug at them and they look fine still do as above, as a bad earth is very hard to locate. Just as well there are not too meny in your vintage of mini.
Good Luck
