First of all can I say that I do not own a Mini although I have in the past owned several, this may well have already been asked but I can find it on here anywhere it may also sound like a stupid question but then that's what forums are for "questions" having limited knowledge on the Mini it has always puzzled my why it has to have sub frames? surely it would have been a lot easier to produce it with a Chassis as in most other cars, I do however understand that it may well have been a lot less comfortable and a lot more noisey ? but I sure that this could have been solved in some way or another, so has anyone considered doing this ? do you know if it's been done ? and what are the difficulties of doing it to a Classic mini now? these may all sound ridiculous questions and yes you may be right but that's why I am asking

Ease of production really The idea is they build up the whole rear suspension brakes etc on a subframe whilst the car is being welded, painted etc Likewise somewhere else in the factory they would be building the engine/gearbox and steering etc into the front subframe then by the time a batch of front and rear subframes were finished there was a batch of shells finished ready to accept the subframes i know when they are old n rusty they are a pain in the ass but from a point of productivity they were cheap and quick and assured a quick turnaround making the cars Theres a video around ill find it and you can see how they put them together Huggz Jodie Enjoy
