Have I been unlucky or is it the norm? probably 10 mini cylinder heads have passed through my hands over the years 998 + 1100, and about half have had a crack in the combustion space, thankfully two cracked heads do not leak into the cooling space and are in use the rest I have binned. I guess you guys in the UK are lucky the scrapyards are full of S/H heads but in Aus we are dealing in a shrinking supply nearly all made before '76. Do skimmed ported heads crack more easily? Perhaps you have been unlucky. wee hear of a few but not very many. Perhaps the ones in Oz have been especially abused?

It's more than likely that because of the "rarity" factor these damaged heads are finding themselves back on the market
