Hi, oil pump was stripped and checked and found to be with in spec and no scoring etc so it went back in. This motor had lost forward drive so I took it out to replace the forward clutch set. Then while it was out I felt I should make the extra effort and freshen it up a bit. The head was skimmed and ported and polished up a bit , the cylinders checked and found to be not in need of a rebore so new rings fitted and all reassembled. Then I thought it prudent to check the condition of the seals, o rings etc in the main transmission while it was out. Torque convertor ok( god they hold some oil not supprised it is impossible to get a full oil flush and change done with the autos!!!) Top and reverse was removed and checked and found to be in good order so where the seals and o rings . ( I should have used new ones but I had to stop spending somewhere) . housing and sump were to be cleaned while attached to the block but it was so horrible on the bottom I elected to remove the trans from the block and really clean it up. Turned out to be a blessing as the gears were much easier to insert with the motor off as the brake bands caught all the time when I was not working from the top down. Diff was removed and checked too. Really the only thing not done was the bottm end of the engine. This was inspected , poked and prodded with out disasembly and seems ok. The engine ran very well prior to mthe loss of auto drive so I suspect it has some life in it yet.
I learnt alot and a digital camera to take lots of photos as I pulled things apart helped no end!!!!!!!!!

As a huge fan of the ADO16 autos, I thank you in deciding to save this rarer Wolseley. What was the donor car?
