hi i need help. for some reason my speakers seem to be louder on one side that the other and i haven't got a clue why? i noticed it after i had new ones installed but even more so after i added some 4" sony speakers to the front. it's not rreally noticeable when you are just sitting in the car but when you put your ear to each speaker the passenger side are loud and the drrivers side is quiter and you can even put your ear close to them so whats wrong help please asap! thanks regards Julian

Hiya have you got the polarity right? and have you got your balance set correctly and are you sure that one of your speakers isn't faulty?

yes polarity is correct balance is set and have tested the speakers on the offending side and they are ok! any other ideas?

To test the problem you should swap the wires around (left to right) at the head unit, then you will know if its head unit wiring or speakers. Or you could check by temporarily adding a speaker to one side at a time, see how it sounds. Are the new speakers joined in with the old ones? if you just share wires you may half the power to both speakers (series vs parallel connection). If everything is correct, is there an earth leak somewhere (damaged wire insulation causing a short circuit)?

Agree it could be a short. I'd check that the wires are fitted at the head unit and also at the back of the speakers - with no little stray strands off one cable touching the other one next to it. Being the baffoon that I am with wiring I know it cuts the volume right back if the connections are touching done it a few times
