First One if i had a pound for every time ........ ;D ;D ;D The Clonking is most probably just the brake bands engaging as you slow to a stop They were like that even when new ;D Not Very satisfactory i agree but perfectly normal Just a Mini Auto Thing The Gators you need as follows GAITER-GEAR SELECTOR CABLE-SMALL-AUTOMATIC-'65-'92 Part Number: 22A1146 GAITER-GEAR SELECTOR CABLE-LARGE-AUTOMATIC Part Number: 22A1147 GAITER-OPERATING ROD FORK END-AUTOMATIC-'65-'70 Part Number: 22A1164 GAITER-GEAR SELECTOR CABLE FORK END-AUTOMATIC-'65-'70 £4.95 Ex VAT £5.69 Inc VAT Part Number: 22A1165 It appears the last one may still be available? As for the others Drop Mra Minis a Line if Martin doesn't have them in stock I'm sure he may be able to source them And last but not least :oAutomatic Gearbox STOP Leak Slip MINI Transmission You Assume right Very Very Bad stuff Really they shouldn't be advertising it as suitable for a Mini This stuff is supposed to be added to Auto Transmissions that use Dexron type ATF as there Oil Maybe they are Referring to the New BMW Mini? Either way don't buy it,don't put it in your Classic Mini Otherwise it'll be curtains for the Unit Regular Oil Changes are a must with the AP Auto you may also need an overhaul? Drop Martin a Line of if you read this Martin Please Advise Huggz Jodie

Hiya Madaboutcherry. When I first got Molly, she made a clunking noise when I was slowly down and I changed mounts and rubbers but it still was making a clunking noise. I then started speaking to Jodie and she said that it's the brake bands and that it's what minis do. She didn't mean any offence by what she said before but she does get asked it alot.
You could try contacting Martin from mra for advise.

Hi Guys, Downshifting...... and pressure differences within the system can sometimes give this effect, if it only happens occasionally or sometimes doesn't happen at all then it might be cause for concern.... however if this was the case I would advise an oil change...... 1) this can tell you a lot about your unit, i.e. what debris is in the sump 2) helps to keep the valve body clear. 3) helps to stop seal damage due to the combustion residue that ends up in the oil. Bottom line change your oil and filter on a regular basis, ie every 1500 to 2000 miles or every 6 monthes will help to avoid very expensive repairs Happy New Year

i do change the oil twice a year with halfords classic 20/50 and it always looks clean on the dipstick. so it,s probably just wear and tear, the car is 42 years old. happy new year.

You say you change you your oil every 6 months, I assume that is about 1500-2000 miles? The reason I ask is cos its imperitive with an autobox its is changed so often cos as you know it shares the oil rather than have 'dexron' atf fluid.
