Started Boris this morning and noticed first that the Oil Light was Cycling on and Off It settled after a minute or so but then i noticed despite a 15 minute idle to warm him up the battery light hadn't switched off We Had a new Battery Last year so I'm assuming it cant be that? So is it either a duff Battery, the alternator is on its way out or a faulty light or even this weather playing havoc with everything? Any Ideas or Tips? Just going to take it over to a friends whos good with minis but if i need to tackle it myself what checks do i need to do? I don't have a multimeter by the way Huggz Jodie

Colin says it might be a bad connection at the battery or the earth terminal to the body which is pretty common this time of year. It's probably worth checking the contacts at the alternator too You sure Boris hasn't be sniffing round my Molly because I seem to recall Molly having problems with her oil light ;D ;D ;D ;D

Boris Sniffing Around Molly? Surely Not Well Boris Appears to have cured Himself Took Boris Over to See Rob at Blakehill Body Centre to see if he could fix him but by the time we got there Boris had fixed himself ;D Rob reckoned it was the cold because either the alternator or the water pump was singing too Once Warmed up he was OK Colin is Probably right about the connections though i think ill get a new alternator after our trip up north

I had the same problem and it was the fan belt that was loose. In the cold it always seemed to have problems. After it got going it appeared to work better. Eventually got round to tightening it....

I agree with colin about it probably being a bad earth on Boris, Thats what its been each time in my case! Get rust/corrision on the contacts and sometimes they just work themselves losse or an earth strap can completly snap!! probably in your case the contacts have just got a little cold and damp!! Isn't vasaline suppose to help prevent that? by rubbing some on the contact points, i'm sure thats what a garage told me once.
