Went out to the Garage today and discovered Otto was having a bit of a lie down on the left side. a quick look around revealed a drip from the rear hydrolastic hose connection a further look on the floor showed that its been leaking for some weeks! I tried a spanner on the hose connection and got about a third of a turn on it(I hope that was all it was) another 15 mins with my homemade pump and Otto was standing up straight again. The mini saga made me think about how much longer I can expect 40 year old displacers to keep going, did anybody make new spares recently?

Earlpart have been pretty flexible whenever I needed something. So I bet they could exchange a mini item if you ask them.

Displacers are colour coded the ones on '68 Otto are orange but the weird thing is they put a piece of orange tape on the strut (rear at least) which is detachable from the displacer, I wish they had marked the hose makes buying S/H displacers tricky.

best keep an eye open for spares. Pick them up when you can
Make sure they are fresh off a car or that the hose has been kept filled with liquid of your choice and capped. Once exposed to air the once reusable hydros will soon rust internally and badly.

Good Advice there I think we all need at times to pick up spares as and when they are available as you never know the day you wont be able to obtain them anymore
