Just went out to Boris as we were going to go for a little drive and he wont start He tried but failed miserably He was trying but wouldn't turn over and then started clicking I even tried giving his a little bit of gas but its either the Battery or The Alternator I'm guessing? We had the Battery replaced 12 months ago so i don't expect it to be that but if it is i want to make sure its not the alternator before i go demanding a new Battery but i haven't got a multimeter Any Ideas? Colin says check the earth in the boot and the terminals on the battery and also the connections to the starter motor. Before you go out and spend any money, you could also try starting Boris with a set of jump leads. Let us know how you get on

We will probably Jump Start Him and take him down to see Uncle Rob either tommorow or Thursday I think we will probably get an Alternator Cheaper at Bingley if we Can Make it? We love him to bits but right now im a bit fud up and feel like swopping him for a modern car

Well we managed to Jump Start Boris today Even that was a little troublesome at First he didn't want to start Even with jump leads but eventually fired up Checked on the price of a New Alternator and with express courier delivery from Mini Spares it comes to £70 However took Boris over to See his Uncle Rob at Blakehill Body Centre today he tested the battery/alternator with a multimeter and gave the Alternator a clean Bill of Health So we took him for a good blast to charge up his battery and we will have to just keep an eye on it. They battery may have a fault keeping its charge but at least for now we know his Alternator is OK So all is well i hope? But Now he has an Oil Leak Just hope thats nothing Serious? Huggz Jodie

have you tried disconnecting the battery when the car is not in use, we used to have problems like you do with Boris with a few of ours but once we started disconnecting them we have found they always start when we need them too

Might try it,just not sure if we have to remove the battery completely?

If you want to disconnect the battery all the time there is a gadget that makes it easier. Called "Discarnect". It fastens onto the battery terminal and has this little wheel that you screw off to disconnect the battery. Makes it loads easier than getting spanners out every time.... it has like a little cable that leaves a connection for car alarms etc. But if you have a problem with the battery going flat could be best to leave the fuse out of this bit. Think they are about a tenner? Then again, why is your battery losing charge, maybe better to look at fixing that if its over a short period of time?
