Possible Oil Filter Canister Alternative?

I'm a member of Retro Rides and one of the members on there is rebuilding a BMW 2002 and the oil filter an canister looks very similar to ours







Ive searched and searched online for a cross reference on the paper elements to see if they are the same as ours but cannot find anything

but maybe just maybe this may be worth looking into?

No good I'm afraid. Our filter has dimensions of 73mm by 140mm. The spin-on type fitted to the BMW only has a diameter of 78mm so I suspect it's unlikely that the cartridge type (which is not listed in my reference books either) will be the right size.

The only alternatives I can find with even remotely similar dimensions are the VW/Audi 2.5Tdi, but that's about 2 inches too long so probably wouldn't fit, and the GFE147 (much shorter) which was fitted to Dolomite 1850s, Stags and TR7s - all even more obsolete than our cars, so probably not a good source for alternatives!
