Hey i love your New Mini Ive also seen your old Mini on the other thread it must be heartbreaking seeing your pride and joy like that Im assuming you cut your losses and never went through the insurance with the burnt out Mini? The Reason i say i assume is because an insurance company would write the burnt out one off as a catagory A without any shaddow of doubt The car may look ok but believe me after a fire of that severity you dont want to put that back on the road it simply wouldnt be safe A fire thats burnt a car out to that level will weaken the metal and though you could do it for your own safety you shouldnt Ive seen Minis that have been on fire and im talking about localised fire underbonnet in the boot etc and sometimes they can sometimes be put back on the road if the localised areas of burnt metal are cut out an replaced to return the shells strength but owners even have problems convincing to insurance accessors to alow that yours im afraid simply isnt worth the risk Put all your money and energy into getting your new Mini just how you want it Dont waste your time, money and risk you safety on the burnt out one it just isnt worth it Huggz Jodie

I agree. There is just far too much fire damage. The metal is now soft and has lost about 90% of the structural integrity. I'm afraid it is for the knackers yard.

Just read on Sweetdreams other thread that it may be re shelled? Better way to go but short of the engine and gearbox i wouldn't personally use anything left from the fire damaged car even the subframes will be too weak now if you just transfare the engine and transmission to a new shell its not enough for a "legal" Re-Shell if the engine a gearbox are worth saving better to find another cheap mini auto with a poorly engine and box and use yours Short of that the only way you can re shell is with a new heritage shell but you need several components from the old vehicle and there simply isn't enough savable from yours If you transfare your old minis details to a second hand shell you would be committing an offense Wouldn't want to see anybody spend more than its worth or get into any legal trouble so thought id mention the legality
