Well, time has come to let him go, I had planned to keep this one long term, but the opportunity arrived to start my long term ambition camper build so something has to go!
Nice little runner, after replacing the full cooling system, setting the timing and the fuelling its been great. auto box is holding up well. Can be a little slow on 3rd to 4th, but works fine, and runs great on the hot-shift. Returns around 40 to the gallon. always driven gently in my ownership running 15 miles each way to work. cruises happy at 60, does a bit more when you need it to. All engine/ex etc is standard.
Exterior is very orange! Sportspack style wheel arches covering 10 inch mambas with falken tyres. Plenty of tread left. These are original Mamba Wheels, not the re-issue ones. Chrome grill, wipers, handles, mirrors and scratch plates. Bumpers are starting to show a little rust. Bit of bubbling, around the car and under rear screen and a little filler in the a panels. Boot floor is solid and doors are pretty good. Outer sills were replaced a couple of years back and are holding up well. Most of the paint is good, a little mis matched paint on o/s rear quarter. Roof could do with a blow over as the white is a little thin.
Interior is full red vynil - door cards, seats, parcel shelf and dash rails with wooden dash, centre speedo, door cappings and a sporty wheel. CD player with pre out and 2 components in the rear. Seat covers and dash rails could do with some tidying and the carpet is a bit rough.
Owned since easter, and in that time I have replaced the following:
Radiator, Waterpump, Hoses, Heater Tap, Thermostat
Front discs, pads and second hand callipers
Front tie bars and bushes
Door seals, Check Strap seals and Bonnet Seal
Acc cable and return spring
Top eengine steady bushes (polyflex)
Replaced the drivers inner sill, door step and patched the wheelarch. Not the neatest job but solid.
Few faults as you would expect with a mini at this price: little leak with water coming into the footwell somewhere. Think now it is the windscreen seal. Little rust hole on passenger inner sill - I will try and sort this before sale. Most of the sound deadening removed so is a bit noisey. Uses a little coolant and spots a little oil now and then. Front suspension could do with a refresh.
Although it is Auto, it has still been fun to own and turns a lot of heads. Auto parts and advice are available from Martin at MRA Minis and on the Auto Mini Register.
I bought this as a rolling resotration and intended to keep it long term, as it is I don't have the space. Sorry to see it go but needs must. As far as minis with T&T go, this is pretty cheap so no silly offers please. No P/X's as I have already bought a van for conversion.
