Just wondered how many members use their automatic Mini everyday? Mine has been off the road for a little while now, but had been my everyday car - and will be again once I have the rusted bodywork repaired!
Seeing any classic Mini on the roads is becoming an increasingly rare sight and I can't remember when I last saw an automatic Mini in a car park.
It's good to see how active this register is and the enthusiasm people have for the automatic Mini.
Roger.

If it were on the road I'd be using it! I use my manual Mini Sky every day (25 miles each way), but as I've being having trouble with my left knee I'd be most grateful if it were auto right now. The auto is in my Elf, which has been laid up for a couple of years in need of a new rear subby - the subby is in my shed but I've not been able to find the time to fit it. Prior to that it did the daily runs for a couple of years. Two years off the road means it now needs another near-full restoration

Hi Asahartz, I too have problems with my left knee - which flares up in the cold weather so the automatic is a real boon. Is your Sky one of the 1989 Limited Edition Mini Sky models? I always liked that edition and can't remember when I last saw one. I've noticed a few real nice Japanese Mini Coopers with automatic transmission coming onto the market in recent years - I've often wondered if they were tuned to be sportier than non Cooper Minis. Cheers,
Roger.

Skye is indeed a 1989 LE, and yes they are rare - I have only seen one other in the flesh, though there are apparently a few about. The restoration thread is here on this forum. Her first show outing was at the Clubman Estate Register's Thing Run this year, where we got together with my friend Carolyn's Rose for a photo: I hadn't even got the decals on at the time, the paint was that fresh! Carolyn's Rose is very much original. I've kept Skye near to original but with a few reasonable mods that are in keeping with the car. For a range of reasons, as 1275 is going in fairly soon too.
