Just a thought for discussion really; has any AMR member ever purchased their Mini from new with automatic transmission? I would be interested to know how much the automatic option added to the price respective to the era, also if any special 'running in' service arrangements were unique to the automatic?
Roger.

Afraid not, I bought none of my minis new. My husband bought his Cooper new from Rover but thats not an auto, not sure if they even still had the auto option then, I will have to look out some of the brochures we got at the time and have a look (it was 1998)

I knew I had something somewhere... I found a photo that I took at a show of an Elf that still had it's original 1967 receipt hanging in the window. Those figures make very interesting reading I think! My Elf matches that description almost exactly except for the "EHR Window", except that it wasn't actually registered until 1969 (even though it's a '67 car) so the price may have gone up a little.

Thanks for that picture Assahartz, it makes for interesting reading - I have a 1983 Austin Rover price list somewhere, I must have a look to see how much the automatic option cost at that time.

Car my wife drives now was originaly bought new by my mum back in 96, I think I have still got the original invoice somewhere, I think it was a fairly hefty price as an option, about £800? If I find it I'll post the actual prices.
