Hi all i was directed to this excent forum by someone on the minifinity forum as i have a problem with the forward clutch assembly on my 94 mini i have replaced the friction plates as i had no forward gears and also i have brazzed the pressure plate back together as it had broken into 6 pieces (quite common so im told but no new plates are being made) however it seems the hardest part is putting the forward clutch back into the box does anyone know how this is done? the box is still attached to the engine as i have only removed the side plate that covers the clutch but it seems very hard to line up the three plates and the pressure plate so they all lock in ive been trying on and off for days just to do this simple job and am at my whits end any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm afraid to say the easiest way is to split the engine and box. You can then hold it in position, while making sure everthing lines up. I tried various was to do it without spiliting and in the end the time I wasted trying to get around it took longer than splitting it in the first place. I have some spare plates if you ever ned any more

You can do this with a special tool that fits through the governor control mechanism aperture in the case.......
