Hello everyone!
A friend of mine gave me an engine for helping him to restore his Morris and he just couldn't remember what it came out of. He suspects that it came out of a later year Austin America because of the smog port holes in the head. Sorry, I don't have a picture but here is the no. 12H 185 HI 010.

Hi selectngo i have an engine calculator but unfortunately it only works with Mini Engines I can however tell you these details from the "12H" part of the engine number Engine type & CC : A Series 1275 cc Transverse mounted Gearbox features : 3.44:1 final drive Hope this is of some help? Hiya Steve! Are you positive about that ID? The closest I could get was a Metro Turbo lump........ and that's not right at all!
True the '12H' identifies the 1275 transverse, but as to the rest...............
Can you id the cylinder head casting? That might give a clue.

Try the website austinamericausa.com There you will find breakdowns of the engine numbers under the title Specifications. 12H 185 HI 010 [1275cc, Transverse mounted, Exhaust Emission Control (Air Pump), Lucas C40 Generator , Crankcase ventilation, Automatic transmission, High compression ratio (which is actually a standard 8.8:1 compression ratio), production #1010]
