It's a nice looking car. It's be all right once you put an A-Series 1275 and AP II automatic transmission in. I hope you enjoy it as much as you've enjoyed Boris. Paul

Thanks Guys for those with positive things to say I will always love the Classic Don't get me wrong but i needed something Newer that wouldn't let me down with a hatch and all the Mod Cons To those who still love to "Bini Bash" i have to ask have you ever driven one? It also annoys me that OK it may be a BMW now but the original Penned design was actually put to paper before BMW had anything to do with Rover The first Prototypes were put together by a Rover team and indeed back in 1995 registered on "N" plates as Rover Mini's The Whole Bini Bashing thing makes me sick to be quite honest,i do remember that BMW went in like a bull in a china shop putting lawsuits on many small Mini related businesses for using their name in the early days and yes i think they were very wrong for that! But lets not look at it with Rose Tinted Specs if BMW hadn't taken the Mini name it would now be gone forever! The Original Mini though we all love it had no chance of conforming with the ever changing legislations and had BMC/BL/ROVER run their company differently we would of still had this very same "New Mini" now albeit with Rover Badging Thanks to Niceboy1275 and shoutforjoy for their kind and constructive comments When Myself and Minisniper started this Register we did say although it was aimed at Classic Mini Automatics we would not tolerate "Bini Bashing" and i stand by this to this day whether i had one or not. Thanks Jodie

And I didn't bash it. I just stated fact. It's wider and taller than an Austin Maxi and only two inches shorter.
I actually think the body shape is quite nice (Countryman and new coupe excepted), but BMW's attitude to the classic Mini market has quite set me against them. There are better modern hatchbacks but there are also many worse ones.

None of us are immune to change. Many cars have fallen that many of us liked. Me, I miss cars like the Isetta, Harold, Studebaker Avanti, AMC Javelin and my now departed 1990 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. Bini Bashers need to keep their comments out of this forum and at least, read the book on the history of the Mini and fully understand the development of the new one. I personally love the BMW Clubman's style even though BMW has screwed up the app of the name. It should have been a Traveller or Countryman or just simply an Estate. I've yet to get a close-up of the new Countryman 4X4 but it appears to be OK too just huge! BTW My 1300 Austin is almost the exact same size as the new Mini Coopers. To the Bini Basher, if you were a classic Fiat 500 fan, would you also bash the new one of those too! All that said, we all know where this went the last time. Might I suggest we not go there yet again? Jodie, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Many owners of later Classic Minis do not realize that BMW bought the Rover Group in 1994, so any 1994 to 2000 Mini is a BMW product, and near the end the Mini and MINI were BOTH rolling out at the same time. I really liked the early versions of the MINI, the coupe looks like it has a WWI helmet on it, and I don't like their bigger is better trend, at this rate of growth there should be a 4x4 1 ton SUV MINI coming soon. I'm very excited that MINI is racing again. Sadly the MINI owners also get grief from BMW owners, at one Rolex/GrandAm race I attended when they had touring track laps for the car clubs the BMW club would not let the MINIS to go out with, or near them, the redheaded stepchildren went out with the British car clubs instead.

As much as I love my 68 minimatic and 88 rover mini, I can appreciate the ease of mind regarding reliablility and safety of a new mini. If I could afford one, Id love a chocolate brown MINI clubman. Id still keep my classic minis for weekend use, but have the style and safety of a new MINI for daily duties. Much cooler than my current mitsubishi magna station wagon (common household appliance). Also my sister has a disability that makes it nearly impossible for her to enjoy a drive in a classic mini regarding both getting in/out of the vehicle and the general riding comfort.

Nice looking car Jodie. Glad you've both settled one that will do for you both. I'm still not sure about the new sciroco as a prefer the older body style.

But Jodie they are nice to drive, just make sure you ONLY fill it with the correct transmission fluid, its expensive to buy from BMW but a lot less than the £6000 price tag for a new transmsision, £2800 from us of course get all the BMW "updates" done as they help with the shift points and stop it from suddenly dropping into first, which they can do and once done it will not drive right without an overhaul.
