3 or 4 months isn't very long at all really.
Here's how I would do it: - Garage it - Give it a good clean and polish before you lay it up. - Cover it with a dust sheet if you can. - Leave the handbrake off and use chocks under the wheels so the brakes don't seize on. - Remove the battery. - It shouldn't matter about the petrol for such a short lay up. - Service it when you recommission it fully.
Every 2 or 3 weeks: - inspect it - inflate tyres as necessary - start the engine and run it until it reaches normal operating temperature. - if you can, and the weather allows, take it for a short drive.
Obviously this is my ideal situation for a short lay up, you may be governed by other factors (accessibility etc).
hth, Paul

Since it is only 3-4 months, I might be tempted not to do some of these things but it would give you an advantage and peace of mind. I put Mortimer away from Nov. 1 to May 1 so an oil change is mandatory with the automatic. Also fill the tank with petrol to prevent rusting of the tank and add stabilizer in it so the petrol won't go stale and junk up the carb(s). No hand brake applied and (optional) elevation to relax the tyres and help keep little critters out. Give it a good buff and cover it. I find that even 2 days sitting is long enough for dust to settle.
Most importantly, be sure the humidity in the storage area can be kept to a minimum!!
