i got the dust covers installed monday night, and got called into work today, so now subframe install yet but tomorrow my goal is to clean up the back side of the front roll pan alittle bit and bed line it, and put the heat to it, it'll probably take a few days for it to dry all the way thur but i think i should be able to install the subframe if i do it slow later on this week
my parts that ive been waiting on are said to have posted today, so i should have them tomorrow
so i need to go and buy some black "RTV" sealant, so i can install a few of the parts
tomorrow is gonna look like santa came early for me (again)

the billet parts i have been waiting on finally came in thursday and i went and got black rtv today, friday, so when the kids go to bed im gonna install what i need to
last wednesday i cut the rest of the rear seat bins out, i have to weld up a few of the spot weld holes, because part of the bin didn't come out clean, thats a ez job, a few spot welds, im gonna try to do it tonight,
bust out a space heater or two and my light and i'll grind it smooth next week sometime
i made the floor plates for the rear roll cage, i made the plates out of 3/16 plate, let me see thats about 5mm plate, nice and heavy duty,
and i drill the holes for 3/8's bolts
so i need to mock up the rear cage in the car so i can see where the plates need to be tec in at
i also bedlined the inside of the front panel, and lower part of the firewall around the steering rack
the little plastic bits that go on the "U"bolts for the rack, are not in the best shape, so i asked dsn if they can get those for me and i was told they are no longer made so i came up with the idea of getting a tube from a bicycle and useing the rubber on the "u"bolts to space out the two different type of metals, so they don't re-act to each other
the bicycle tube is thin rubber, so i don't think the rack will be effected by that, moving around and the play, i think i should be good and i went to my local bolt store and got 4 nylon lock nuts for it also, 50P, lol
everytime i go up in their, i always ask for 4 nuts or bolts at a time, lol

today i took my heater unit apart, the heater core i have is like 2 months old, im gonna back flush it to make sure its all good
i took the heater 100% apart today, im removing the trap door inside of it, thinking it could help with the flow of air, so maybe it will work better and im gonna move the on/off switch for the motor and i sanded the metal down to bear metal on the outside and the inside took me about 8hrs of sanding by hand, their was some surface rust on the inside where the old heater core had been leaking before i replaced it with the new one so i said "F" it and got to sanding and now its rust free
and i was able to get it painted in some high heat paint on the inside and outside, the same brand and color as what i did for the engine, but not as thick so tomorrow it should be nice and dry and able to be handled so im gonna put the heater unit back together and then paint it in matt black
also i went to the bolt store about a week ago and got a hand full of small sheet metal screws, because some of the old ones where a pain to remove from being rusty
ones again, i forgot to take pictures with the heater box in raw metal forum before paint, lol i always forget, so tomorrow i'll try to remember to get a few pictures of the work being done
oh yeah, tomorrow im gonna order a new rear brake assemblie with stock shoes, don't really need to upgrade rear shoes but ive been watching the kit for like the last few months and now its on sale, for like 20gbp off the reg price, so im gonna go for it, with my christmas money
hopefully everything goes good with mini sport tomorrow and i get my goods right away, ive never ordered anything from them so well see

ok here's a picture on how the heater unit started out looking like, had some surface rust on the inside and some under the paint on the outside where nicks and sratches where, so i got to sanding a bit to clean up the rust my hands are killing me right now but looking at the outcome of it, its all good

i changed up the heater alittle bit, in hopes or making it work alittle better, i removed the trap door inside of it, to make a bigger vent out the front of it, im gonna go down to the junkyard and see if i can find some vents that i can make work, or if not then im gonna get some metal with small holes in it and bend it up to fit the front and use the stock screw holes with some washers or something, not sure yet but the inside/outside of the heater was painted in some high heat paint(over 600c) and then the i painted the outside again in my matt black to match the rest of the car

the sun was out today, so i did some work i plan on getting some type of seat belt harness, like a 3 or 4point system but im unsure right now, i made this out of 1.5in tube and the flat plates are 3/16x4x5 inches, so far ive drilled 2holes in ea side, i want to do 2more per side i still need to make tabs for the seat belts to bolt to it, but im gonna wait until i get those and im gonna make some bars to connect it to the rear change but in time that will happen

i have the inner window seal for this door, but its chrome still, i need to tape off the rubber and paint it matt black like the other side is
and i still need to switch the key lock for the handle before i go and put those in, but that will be part 2 of the door build coming up

thanks
they fit my hips really nice, with those seats and harnesses, i won't be moving around at all
did some work on the car today, installed the steering rack and front subframe with the solid mounts
i started to test fit my brace bars and they are to close to my shock mounts for my liking, so im gonna do somemore cutting/welding on them to make them fit where i want them to and i need to drill the holes in the tops and body still
so if the weather lets me, im gonna do that and im shooting for monday to drop the engine into the car, but i need to go and buy 4- 5/16bolts and lockwashers and lock nuts before that can happen
and also monday im gonna make/weld in some seat mounts for a friends mini, he has some type of honda seats, and then he's gonna help me get my engine intothe engine bay safely
i could do it myself but i just want the extra set of eyes their just to make sure

Looking good. I've often thought about doing something similar so I could use generic switches instead of expensive mini ones.
