On saturday we covered the parcel shelf ... And also fitted these new fatter style headlight rims to Merri. I think they look really good ... Merri & Mandi on the Van & Traveller 50th Birthday display at Stafford Mini Fair 2010 ... Here is the signboard that I made for the display ... I got this fab 5" Woody model at Stafford, its made of rubber and squeaks like a rubber duck hehehe ... We made the journey to and from the show fine, although Merri did cut out a couple of times on the M6 coming home so we will have to have a look at what was causing that at some point

We finally bought the corner panels to properly sort Merri's rear valance at the Stafford Show last weekend. Plus we bought this grill that we are going to tidy up a bit and then use as a winter one to save the chrome one from winter salt etc ... Plus a piccy of Merri in the snow in Wales has just won a photo comp on the MiniForum, you will see a piccy of Merri in January of their 2011 calender

We found out why Merri had trouble driving home from Stafford last weekend, the rubber connector to the distributor on the vacuum advance pipe had split! ... We cleaned up our new autojumble grill that we bought for Merri last weekend. In fact it was in much better condition that we first thought, its not chrome but is quite shiny. We are wondering if it may be stainless. Anyway here it is with the other Chrome one that has been on Merri ... can you tell which is which ? ........................ the one on the left is the autojumble one ... The new autojumble winter grill has now been fitted to Merri, so hopefully we can get the chrome one cleaned up and looking nice for the summer shows ...

Today we had to fill both of Merri's dashpots on the twin carbs with oil as they were a bit low. We will also need to clean all the winter dirt off the engine & bay in the near future, but thats a job for another week ...

As the weather was nice over the weekend we had a chance to respray Merri where the colour did not match properly from when we did her in January ... we also decided to have a go at the wheel arches as we have always had them painted black ... while the weather was still nice it was the perfect time to give inside the arches a good coat of Beige ... a nice coat of Elpaso Beige ... and the wheel arches are looking much better already ... we also had time to fit the Innocenti indicator repeaters ...

Shes looking Great Holly Brings back memories i really had fun spraying some of Boris myself 18 months or so ago OK i used cans and your using a Posh compressor but theres still a great sense of achievement when you do it yourself Plus once you have a good coat on it theres nothing stopping you flatting it down every couple of years to use as an undercoat and just laying down a new thin top coat to refresh the paint Keep up the good work Jodie

If that's an original SU pump, you can get a parts kit to recondition them. Might be worth doing - it's always useful to have a spare on the shelf!

Oh dear, on a test run one of the clips for the bottom radiator hose on Merri seems to not have been man enough for the job, it popped off under pressure and she dumped all her water ...... a new jubilee clip required me thinks !!

The "New Look" Merri ...[/size] Merri's new wooden side panels took unbelievably long to make, however i think they cam out really well in the end. I just love the wooden finishing piece that goes round the filler cap too ... I bought some reverse rim for her, they just needed a little tidying. So to start off we had to sand them back a bit ... next they were all painted Elpaso Beige to match Merri ... We had the tyres transferred over from her old alloys ... and also had some white wall flaps fitted ... then the hubcaps needed a good bit of polishing ... Mmmmm Shiny ... I decided to go for the yellow spot lights in the end ... I wanted to fit a roofrack but couldn't find any that I liked that I though would suit her and wouldn't damage her wood. So we decided to make our own that the mountings would fit on the just in front of the wood. We made the framework from some aluminium tubing that my dad gave us ages ago ... Next we made some wooded slats for the roofrack ... before the could be fitted to the roofrack framework the wooden slats were stained to match Merri's wood ... Seems to be coming together nicely ... I think Tigger approves of my design hehehe ... We also fitted some new retro styled headlight to her ... Here is the "New Look" Merri on her first test run out .........

yesterday, we were working on lots of wiring in Merri ... Mr Bear was helping us again hehehe ;D we wired up the new spotlights so that they now work ... installed and wired up the new Oooga horn ;o) .... we had to take out the old Muh Horn (Bull Horn) first, please beware of the Bull horns as ours shorted out and started a small fire in the engine bay and we have heard of another person having the same problem with this type of horn ... you have been warned ;o). Anyway this piccy is of the Oooga Horn all in place ... We had to fishish off the interior wiring that we did not have time to do last weekend ... Now the vintage radio is even wired up and work ...

Merri had a few little problems whilst up in the Lake District !Merri lost 2 x whitewalls on the journey up to the Lake District !! It doesn't quite look the same without them ... Here is what was left of the whiteall flaps that came off ... Luckily we too spare whitewall flaps with us up there so manage to get the new ones fitted while we were still holidaying in the Lakes ... Merri had to Travel back to the holiday cottage on a flatbed after her head gasket suddenly went whilst we were on holiday in the Lake District ! We broke down at just gone 4pm, it was 11pm before we got back to the cottage and it was only 10 miles down the road ... I was not best pleased about having to wait that long for the RAC to come out ... A piccy of Merri being unloaded from the breakdown truck, awww how sad ... Just a slight hole in the head gasket that went whilst on holiday in the lakes. We do know what made the head gasket go suddenly, which appears to be the exhaust breaking down inside, blocking the box and the back pressure causing the gasket to blow ... you should have seen the stuff coming out of the exhaust after it happened, looked like a dead skinned animal or something ... I will get a piccy late and show you all ... luckily we had a spare head gasket set with us so was able to get it all changed in the garage at the holiday cottage in the Lake District. I should point out that after we fixed her she did drive the whole 250 miles home fine ... We ran out of petrol whilst driving accross the Yorskshire Dales on the way home ... hmmm maybe we should not have driven past that last petrol stop hehehe ...
