Pulled the head on the Moke to find a blown head gasket. I knew about it though, so it wasn't a surprise. Dropped the head off to get it skimmed.

I got an MOT for mine, with just two advisories. Slight play on ns ball joint and ns rear brakes sticking slightly (I think) I think the brakes a bit sticky cos its been sat with the handbrake on for about 6 weeks so hopefully that will sort itself out. Another 12 months of fun then.

Tore the engine out of our orange clubby as the shell is sold, but we wanted to keep the engine. Then tore the engine out of "lil egg" the matic as she is going off for a gearbox overhaul, and finally tore the engine out of our 850 that is currently having a bare metal respray!! 3 engines out, started at 9am, finished at 3pm... very tired, dirty, greasy and missing lots of skin off my knuckles!

I discovered why my mini has been running rough, it turns out the replacement cylinder head I put on it 18 months ago was not unleaded as i had thought. The result is the exhaust valve on cylinder 1 has burnt away the seat and had recessed far enough that the valve clearance had closed completely . The MOT emissions pass two weeks ago is a bit interesting ....

Not so much on my Mini but in my Mini...
We did a prom run on Friday evening in Nottingham, for a friend's sister - the friend (James) and his brother are both Mini owners, but James' car was out of action so I loaned him nemo for the evening while I drove Skye. Five Minis and a pink Scamp did Mini things round Nottingham ring road (like weaving a la Italian job!) One car also had an inflatable crocodile strapped to the roof... we got some odd looks!
Eventually made a typical Mini entrance at the venue - we parked up in pairs, blocking the rest of the traffic until the kids had finished taking pics. Then we all did an extra lap of the car park before leaving!
The things Minis do to you... two of us were more than old enough to know better, and two were "responsible" schoolteachers!

I put petrol in old faithful (74 Leyland Mini 1100) and started driving it to work as the daily driver (mitsubishi magna) has "issues" and Reggie (88 Rover Mini 1.3spi) has exhaust issues. Old rusty, loud, smoky to the rescue again!
